Pre-procedure information for minor surgery

Please let the team know if you are taking blood thinning medication, this may need to be stopped. Please inform us if you have ever had a reaction to local anaesthetics, have a pacemaker or are pregnant.

About the procedure

You are having a minor surgery procedure. If this involves stitches you will need to have these removed.

After the procedure you will be given advice about how to look after your wound.

All skin procedures leave a scar. These are likely to fade over time, however occasionally can become big or overgrown. Please ask if you have any questions about this.

Potential other problems that can occur are bleeding, infection and re-occurrence of the lesion. If you have any questions about this please ask.

You can eat and drink as normal before and after your surgery.

After the procedure

Please rest and take regular painkillers like paracetamol.

You will not be able to get the area wet until the stitches are removed or reviewed by the nurse. Please bear this in mind if you have any holidays booked.

Normally it is advisable not to drive for 24 hours after a procedure, but please discuss this if you have any concerns.

If you are happy with the information you have been given, you will be asked to sign a consent form before the procedure takes place.
